About Stuart
Rocket scientist. Award-winning marketer. Relentlessly curious leader.
Stuart Butler is President of Visit Myrtle Beach, the 2025 Content Marketer of the Year, a rocket scientist by education, and a creator whose work has crossed industries, formats, and comfortable boundaries.

The work behind the ideas
From rocket science to market-changing work.
Stuart earned a degree in Physics with Space Science, then applied that first-principles mindset to marketing, hospitality, media, and organizational leadership.
Today, he is President of Visit Myrtle Beach, helping lead one of America’s most recognized tourism destinations through rapid change. Earlier in his career, he helped grow a hospitality marketing agency, built category-leading media, and led creative projects that challenged how industries think about content, accessibility, and the customer experience.
His career has moved across organizations and industries, but the pattern is consistent: question the inherited answer, find the human truth others missed, and turn ambitious ideas into work that delivers.

Industry recognition
2025 Content Marketer of the Year
The Content Marketing Institute recognized Stuart for revolutionizing how his organization, and the destination it represents, approaches content.
The body of work includes award-winning podcasts, branded entertainment, industry-first initiatives, and Traveling the Spectrum, an Emmy-nominated television series that turned customer insight into cultural and commercial impact.

Perspective shaped by experience.
Stuart is legally blind. That reality has required a lifetime of adaptation, workarounds, and deciding for himself what a constraint should mean.
When he could no longer drive, the loss of independence sharpened a lesson that now runs through his keynote: control what you can, influence what you can, and stop donating energy to the rest.
It is an important part of his story, but not the whole story. What matters most is the operating principle it produced: a practical way to meet uncertainty with agency, courage, and imagination.
What Stuart believes
Customer obsession is a leadership discipline.
Constraints can sharpen imagination.
The status quo should have to defend itself.
Scrappy always wins.

Why he speaks
Because useful ideas deserve to travel.
Speaking is a natural extension of Stuart’s work as a leader and creator. He enjoys helping people see familiar challenges from a different angle, then giving them enough practical structure to do something with that perspective.
He remains fully engaged in his role at Visit Myrtle Beach and speaks selectively for organizations where the message can make a meaningful difference.
